What Do We Fear? Why Do We Fear?
A Question I tend to ask myself and others daily, "What causes our fear?" If you had spoken to me 10 years ago about fear I would have told you "I fear nearly everything" I even feared speaking to people, I couldn't get a word out unless I was in a controlled environment of just a few people who really knew me. I feared people, I feared speaking, I feared eating in front of anyone, I feared death and shockingly I feared Horror Movies.
What's That You Say?? Sarah "Frightmares" used to fear Horror Movies?! Yes! It's True. I used to get nightmares about everything; it could have even been a parody horror movie and it would have given me relentless nightmares. My fright towards the world gave me nightmares every single night. One day something happened that changed my life; A Real nightmare came true. This was the type of nightmare that makes you feel like a loud noise was just smashed into your ear and you become deaf. For a moment your eyes begin to see everything clearer than ever before, your mind goes blank and all you can focus on is the adrenaline coursing through your veins and trying to survive. All I could think about was "This doesn't happen in real life does it? ... It happens In Movies... Why Me?".
That same aspect most people walk around with, that feeling of being an immortal superman/superwoman that tragedy has never befallen; until it happens to you. During that moment I found my mind focusing on the most obscure of things, the cold sweat dripping down my back or how when I tried to scream all that came out was silence after just the word No and one whimper I fell deep down into myself and went into shock. I met a real monster that day on October 27; the monster pinned me down, strangled me and killed something deep down inside me... but awoken another. Horror Movies saved me, saved the soul deep down that felt broken and made it whole again. I was able to face my fears in my safety zone of a controlled environment and let that adrenaline course through my veins again. I just clicked on the category of Horror, Pressed Play & Repeat.
